The 2009 residency season was a great success, thanks to our wonderful and talented artist residents from the US, Germany, Scandinavia and Japan.
The two open houses of the summer, on July 1st and July 29th, saw a record number of visitors who all enjoyed great studio exhibitions. |

In the summer of 2010 Baer Art Center will not offer formal residency sessions as usual, but instead will operate an alternative art and cultural program.

The second open house of the 2008 season was held on Tuesday evening, July 31. The five artist residents opened their studios as customary. It was great to see how many people stopped by to follow up on the ideas created and work produced at Baer. |

The first open house of the 2008 season was held on Wednesday evening, July 2. A large crowd of guests, from the local community and beyond, showed up to explore the works and ideas gathered over four weeks by the Baer art residents, who opened up their studios. It was great to see how much joy and humor the visitors got out of the studio visits and the art work on display. |

The president of Iceland, Mr. Olafur Ragnar Grímsson and his wife, Mrs. Dorrit Moussaieff, visited Baer Art Center on April 15, as a part of their official visit to the Skagafjördur region. Accompanying the president and his wife were officials from the local and national governments as well as a crew of media reporters. Steinunn gave a short introduction on the operational setup of the art center and then showed the honorary guests the facilities at Baer. |

The inaugural group of residents came to Baer on June 11, 2007, stayed for four weeks in great Icelandic summer weather, explored the nature and culture around them and left their mark behind in their unique outdoor installations. |

Baer Art Center celebrated its grand opening at the end of May, 2007 with over 200 guests, great program of songs and speeches, sunshine and breathtaking views. |
